  5.                  A: PURPOSE AND GENERAL RULES OF THE ECHO
  6.  
  7. A1. Purpose of the Echo: This Echo has been set aside for the sole purpose of 
  8. playing Star Trek Role Playing Games (RPGs). Much of the gaming material
  9. used here is based on the information created by FASA, which is possibly still
  10. distributed at local hobby/science fiction stores or science fiction 
  11. conventions. However, games might be run by Game Masters that use different 
  12. types of materials of their choosing. Star Trek is the registered trademark of 
  13. Paramount Pictures.
  14.  
  15. A2. This Echo provides no room for discussionary messages EXCEPT when
  16. dealing with RPGs in progress or RPGs being initiated. Other Star Trek
  17. discussionary echoes are provided for users such as the TREK Echo, the
  18. STTNG Echo, and the STDSN Echo (Moderators of these echoes feel free to
  19. line my pockets for that free plug). Anyone wishing to have discussions not 
  20. pertaining to the RPG must go to one of these echoes. No exceptions are 
  21. allowed.

  23. A3. The Moderator is in charge of the Echo and his decisions are always
  24. final.
  25.  
  26. A4. No profanity or harshness to other users is allowed.
  27.  
  28. A5. Advertising for other FidoNet echoes is permitted. Advertising of 
  29. commercial products or other items for sale is not permitted.
  30.  
  31. A6. All messages must be in English.
  32.  
  33. A7. Co-Moderators are to be treated with the same respect as the Moderator. 
  34. Their duty is to take over the Moderator's position in case of leave of 
  35. absence or the Moderator's disappearance. It is also their duty to assist the
  36. Moderator in running the Echo. Co-Moderators are appointed by the Moderator 
  37. and are answerable to the Moderator only.
  38.  
  39. A8. The Moderator's term of office is for one year and s/he may be re-elected 
  40. as many times as he or she can. Elections are held every January for whoever 
  41. wants to run. Moderator nominations must be received by December 15th. 
  42. Voting takes place between December 16th and January 1st. However, allowances 
  43. may be made if unusual occurrences occur. An official vote taker, agreed on by 
  44. the candidates, will be made to count the official votes.

  46. A9. Anyone not upholding these rules may be given a warning.  Two warnings may 
  47. result in notification of the user's home BBS SysOp to remove that particular 
  48. user from the Echo. In other words, hasta la vista.
  49.  
  50. A10. The Moderator may appoint assistants to delegate authority to be able 
  51. to insure Echo continuity and preservation of crucial functions.
  52.  
  53. A11. These rules may be changed at the Moderator's discretion or new rules may 
  54. be added as long as they are beneficiary to the Echo and do not change its 
  55. original purpose.

  57. A12. Any rule changes by the Moderator will not go into effect until they are 
  58. publicly posted, therefore the date they are posted will be the date they go 
  59. into effect.

  61. A13. A separate set of gaming rules have been set aside for the users,
  62. and will be posted in conjunction with the Echo rules. All users are urged to 
  63. familiarize themselves with these rules as well as the above.
  64.  
  65. A14. You are encouraged to check out our sister Echo, STARTREK_RPG. Many of
  66. the users here, Moderator included, participate over there as well.
